Life would have been far worst without artists. God or nature, in fact, is the first artist, who has created life and its cacophonous music. Art is nothing but passion to innovate and to see the world through eyes of its own. Is Art possible without immitation? Of course not! Is Art limited to immitation? Answer is again in negative. The primary basis of art is immitation. Its tools are ready at hand. But arts transcend the limitation of mechanics. It doesn't remain repetitive rather breaks the shackles of imitative and repetitive cycle and brings freshness into the perspective to see the world through new eyes. Erich Fromm rightly suggested that being a prisoner of our own ideas is far more slavish "state of being", since the agent remains in hallucination if he or she has his or her own voice or not in expression but in reality his voice is nothing but echoing the sentiments of society (Fromm, Escape from Freedom).
In the Information Age, people are consumers of web-contents. Day and night, all the information are shaping the psyche of humans, making them susceptible to all the vulnerabilities social media is projecting. In such a condition, is it possible to break the mechanics of information and to transcend the "herd-voice" echoing everywhere around? If yes, which type of attitude is required to avoid the imprisoning effects of information? Answer may not be given in haste. But certainly, an artist can overcome the repetitive cycle of "documentary and documented world", whereas everything is recorded for the sake of knowledge, power and pleasure what Michel Foucault projected in his Magnum opus, "History of Sexuality".
Without creativity, human's mind becomes dull and duller. It seeks security in accumulations of prestige, honour, pleasure, and wealth, the chief of appetites of human being Plato philosophized in Republic. The accumulative attitude produces far more possessive individuals in term of MacPherson, whose success and failures are tested at the touchstone of "accumulative rationality".
Google is far more successful venture for its unexceptional capacities to accumulate the gigantic sea of information. Amazon has its brand for transcending the geographical boundaries and becoming a hegemonic venture into the field of e-marketing. Information as a capital has found its greatest managers in the 21st centuries, who are rewriting the course of history at the cost making the world citizens merely the mechanical-consumers, who are not yet sensitive enough to see the simulated cave in which their consuming appetite is flourishing. Over-dependence on artificial intelligence in every domain of life is killing the art and appetite to look at the world with new eyes. Who cares if eyes are already implanted, already suggesting each and everything, and auto-suggestions are being received by passive brains of humans with ease. In such a condition, who cares if artist in me is dead and buried. Only imitators as well as copy and pastors are ruling the order of day. Who cares if quality matters in such a mechanical world as long as voluminous data is being produced simply by re-cycling the data. My words may be conservative enough to be accepted but the truth is we need genuine art and authentic artists to transcend the mechanics of information age. A few good artists are enough to awaken the slumber in which mass populations are playing a role of good consumers.
